ResponderEliminarNowadays I'm teaching in Leganés, a city whose people is known as "pepineros" because of the amount of cucumbers that were grown here long time ago. The ground of Leganés was excellent for growing vegetables and the city provided food to Madrid. As you can imagine Leganés is not a garden any longer and the ground underneath is pretty much a tip than an arable land. Despite this many primary and secondary schools in Leganés have their own urban garden so as to teach to the students that food does not grow in supermarkets and that we are all responsible for a sustainable economy.
