Class: 7th February

Unit 6: Conflict

Can-Do Objectives: Discuss war and social conflict
                                 Talk about peace and justice

Pages: 44 - 45

Grammar: I wish…

Vocabulary: row, siblings, behalf, out do, to harass, armory, overturn, to rage, hideous, eyesore, reprisals

HW: Workbook – pg. 36, 37 (NOT ex E.), 38 Reading (Text on pg. 39)

Also: As I was searching for talks that might be relevant to our current topic, I found this list of 8 TED Talks on peace. I encourage you to at least watch the first one but do try to find the time to listen to the remaining 7. Knowing English (the lingua franca of our time) should not be merely a skill we include on our CV but the key to opening the door to the possibility of sharing.

John Hunter: Teaching with the World Peace Game

I’m including this other TED Talk because it deals with another type of conflict which might, unfortunately, be much closer to home.

Esta Soler: How we turned the tide on domestic violence (Hint: the Polaroid helped)
